Hello Everyone

Welcome to our Outreach Weekly News for the Fourth Sunday of Advent. The Weekly News is taking a Christmas and New Year break and will be back with you on the weekend of Sunday 10th January. Please see the special attachment ‘Love Christmas’, including photos about our Christmas Appeal. This has been a phenomenal achievement and would not have been possible without you!

Fr Keith writes:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year – With this being the last newsletter for a couple of weeks, Deacons Tom, Malcolm and myself would like to wish you all a joyful and peaceful Christmas and a happy New Year. We would like to thank you all for your prayers, cards and gifts. You have been very generous and it is much appreciated. Let’s pray that 2021 will be a year that we can look forward to with hope.

Christine Ingle –  Chris taught at St Peter’s school and became headteacher at Corpus Christi for 26 years. Last Friday, Chris retired. She has been a tremendous inspiration to staff and children and we wish her well in her retirement and pray that she will be blest with many years of good health and happiness. Chris, thank you for all you have done.

PRAYER CARDS

Following on from the success of the Easter prayer cards that were given to housebound parishioners, people living alone and those in care homes, we are hoping to do the same at Christmas. If you would like to give somebody a Christmas Prayer card, you can collect them either from the back of St Peter’s church at 11am Mass on Sunday 20th Dec or 10am Mass on 23rd December. You can also call to the presbytery door on Tuesday 22nd from 10am till Noon and from 4pm till 6pm. Prayer cards can also be collected from the back of Corpus Christi church or from Tom. Feel free to give a card to somebody you know who would appreciate being remembered. All those who receive our newsletter by hand will receive a prayer card and it is also on this week’s Prayer Intention sheet.

MESSAGE FROM BISHOP ROBERT

As we approach Christmas, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your hard work for your parish and the diocese in this time of pandemic. To those who have helped to keep our churches open for Mass and those who have reached out to the less fortunate I want to say a big thank you. It is by our faith and unity that we can be a sign to the world of the love Christ showed us in becoming one of us in the holy season. I would like to wish you and your family a happy and peaceful Christmas and a blessed New Year.
